15th Rally Filippos - Greece (Round 3 of Greek Championship)

On weekend 11-12 of April there is the 3rd round of the Greek Rally Championship in the area of Veria (30min from Thessaloniki).
A very nice tarmac rally with almost 100 rally kilometres in one day, 3 special stages x 2.

Most of the Greek drivers will be there and I was wondering if any Bulgarian crews could be interested in starting this rally, as test I guess for the 1st round of Bulgarian chamionship 2 weeks later.

From what I know, the organisers are willing to give some incentives to the crews that decide that, and also they do not need international licence, the bulgarian racing license will be ok!

For me - We'll do what we can, to see dhis rally. Like fans. 380 km from Sofia. Like Shumen.

I perfectly understand you cecko! This weekend I am doing more than 750 kms (and the same to come back) to go to Pirgos and watch the Olympiako Rally (2nd round of Greek Championship, gravel). We rallyfans have a weird relationship with kms, love and hate relationship! And also almost the same distances will cover for rally Acropolis, rally Elpa, and the same distance as you for rally bulgaria and maybe another one if I find the time!

If you finally decide to come let me know! As soon as the maps are on the site of the rally I will post the links. There are 3 special stages, x 2 times = 6 special stages. One of them is "Seli"! That stage is just above Naousa! All of it is downhill with a lot of changing corners and hairpins! That is my favourite! Also there is a classic bump (with a lot of speed, 5th or 6th gear) in stage "Polidentri" where many cars had bad accidents in the recent years! Also another classical spot of the rally!

The 3 big rallies in the Northern Greece for this year, will be:
Filippos Rally in the area of Veria and Naousa, I mentioned the date above,
Kentavros Rally in the area of Volos, 23-24 May,
DETH Rally which is held in 12-13 September in the area of Halkidiki (my home rally!!!).
All of them are tarmac rallies.

There is also the North Greek Rally Cup, all tarmac events, with events in many areas of the Northern Greece.
The above 3 rallies also count for that cup of course, apart from Greek National Championship.

The program for North Greek Rally Cup is:

14-15 March, Thermaikos Rally Sprint, Area of Halkidiki
11-12 April, Filippos Rally, Area of Veria and Naousa
9-10 May, Serres Rally Sprint, Area of Serres
23-24 May, Kentavros Rally, Area of Volos
20-21 June, Kozani Rally Sprint, Area of Kozani
12-13 September, DETH Rally, Area of Halkidiki !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
30 October-1 November, Dimokritos Rally Sprint, Area of Alexandroupoli

Of course the level in the 3 rallies that count for the National Championship is much much higher than the rallysprints that count only for the North Cup.
The closest of these 3 to Bulgaria, is the DETH Rally (2hours max from the boarders, with real slow pace) and Filippos Rally (same distance). I usually do around 1 hour and a little bit more from Thessaloniki to boarders!

Can someone please translate what Mr. Jekov said?

Correct me if I am wrong. He contacted the organisers and they told him about the benefits? Free entry, free hotel and gas? That is great news!!!!

And of course, I am sorry I did not mention that "HANS" is NOT obligatory, and the entries close at Wednesday, 1 March!

Every crew who wants to participate in the rally will not pay entry fee and may benefit free hotel rooms for the whole team. At the moment we are conducting negotiations for free fuel and participation without HANS device. Yes, obviously the 1 March is mistake!
Usually, the entries close one and a half weeks before the rally, 10 days before, I meant 1 of April, but I will get back on that to make it sure!

HANS is not obligatory in Greece for this year!

The exriry date for entries is 1 April!
And maybe there will be an extension to that, but I repeat maybe!

Let me also remind you, tha apart from Gr.A, Gr. N, WRC, S2000, R3, R2, etc, in the rally also take part cars that their homologation is expired, like VW Golf MKII, Peugeot 205, Ford Escort RS Coshworth, Citroen AX, and some of them here in Greece are very strong contenders! Here in Greece is Gr.E! Also historics (sporting class only, not regularite!) can take part.
